Introduction

PsxCad Simulation Software

The R&D department within Powerspex has been developing simulators and the Psxcad Simulation Software for more than 15 years. All this is based on years of experience with the implementation of energy processes and mathematical models of a diverse variety of installations.

The simulators are being used within energy plants, heat network systems and drinking water facilities and have great value in training operators to learn how to use and keep up the installation.

Besides training, the simulations are used to test feasibility and optimize a design in all stages from concept to the detail engineering phase.

What differentiates PsxCad is the option to couple the control software to the process model. This allows a dynamic simulation of the entire design. Through this, PsxCad offers the option to design, test and optimize concepts before proceeding to the next phase.

PsxCad has been developed in-house, with standard web server technology, which allows the replication of complete DCS-installations or HMI-PLC-installations, including diverse operating locations at a distance. There are currently multiple tens of projects realized with a large variety of DCS & SCADA system looks and feels.

Within the energy market, that Powerspex calls home, are diverse energy plants with 1-to-1 Operator Trainings Simulators from Powerspex. The goal of these simulators is the training of operators, upkeep personnel, new personnel and other employees that come into direct contact with the core of the systems. These people work within an identical environment as their own central control room. The behaviours of the installations, the controls and the SCADA are simulated digitally.

Simulations are also applied as a tool for the following:

  • Designing and/or improving heat networks. (Concept Engineering Simulations)

  • Performance analysis and improvement of drinkwater production.

  • Generic simulator of Waste-to-Energy plant for training and education.
